Our Story

How it all started...

It all started with a love for God and a heart to serve others.  Cornerstone Church of Johnston County was originally established in July of 2007.   God had filled the hearts of four families with a deep desire to serve Him and thus serve the community by sharing the gospel, loving people and ministering to those God placed in their path.  Elim Fellowship has served as our covering, along with ministry licensing and credentials.

The journey, currently spanning over 15 years, has allowed members to experience the many great works of God.  The church has maintained a heart of purity for the word of God while embracing the Holy Spirit.  This is what has made us an authentic group of believers that have been able to send out missionaries and support the sharing of the Gospel.

Expanding the vision...

God has the plan and the people of Cornerstone are called to honor Him through our worship and serving others.  We choose not to just identify ourselves as disciples, we also recognize our responsibility to disciple others.  Discipleship is not a program, it is a journey taken together building faith, encouraging growth and nurturing the hunger to know the Lord.

Where we are headed...

This is a question not just for the church, but also of each individual.  The key thing to recognize is that our path is not about a building or our plan, but about HIM.  He is preeminent in all things, and this in itself will take us where we need to go.

The Cornerstone body of believers continues to trust God to build the church.  We know confidently, in trusting God, the journey will be to His glory, therefore we are excited about what He has done and is yet to do in this body of believers.

Cornerstone is focused on being true to God, His word and our roots, and seeing people come to know the Lord intimately.  This all reflecting the gifts of the Holy Spirit being freely expressed for the benefit of others, just as they were intended.
